Understand the meaning of the design challenge.
After the first-round interview, we found that travelers have strong interests in the art & culture in New York City. Plus, as we are all art school students, so we have connections with many artists and designers in New York City. So we decided to narrow down our target users and conducted the second-round interviews. On the travelers’ side, we put attention on travelers who are interested in exploring art in NYC; for the locals, we chose local people who work in the art industry to interview.

Over tourism poses threats both to natural and social economic sides. For the natural part, excessive development of tourism leads to increased pollution, loss of natural habitat, soil erosion, etc. On the social side, local residents’ living environment becomes too tourism-orientated. Fewer and fewer businesses cater to locals. Local’s needs are ignored.
